This is an ongoing recording project by composer Kate Moore and cellist Ashley Bathgate who have been working together since 2009 on an epic body of work for the cello in all its glory. Both Kate and Ashley come from a background playing the major cello repertoire: Elgar, Dvořák, Fauré, Bach, Beethoven. Over a number of years they have worked hard to develop and sculpt their own original language and voice spoken through this instrument; Ashley, through the subtlety and colour of her playing, Kate through composition using the idiomatic and dynamic vocabulary of the cello. The body of compositions and the way in which they are performed by Ashley dive head-on into a powerfully charged physical and metaphysical experience.
